Andrew Wolk is the founder and CEO of Root Cause, a nonprofit research and consulting firm that partners with nonprofits, philanthropy, government, and business to advance solutions to today’s toughest social issues. He has consulted to dozens of organizations on social innovation and creating social impact, including ITNAmerica, the Louisiana Office of Social Entrepreneurship, Nike, State Street Foundation, and the Young People’s Project (YPP).

Andrew is the author of a number of books and reports, including: Business Planning for Enduring Social Impact, Building a Performance Measurement System, “Social Entrepreneurship and Government,” a chapter in the SBA’s annual report to the president of the United States, and  “Advancing Social Entrepreneurship: Recommendations for Policy Makers and Government Agencies,” a white paper co-published with the Aspen Institute. His most recent article, “Government and Social Innovation: Current State and Local Models,” appeared in the fall issue of MIT’s Innovations journal.

Andrew designed and taught one of the first courses on social entrepreneurship in the country at Boston University. He holds appointments in social entrepreneurship and innovation at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and MIT Sloan School of Management. He has served on the board of Social Enterprise Alliance and the advisory board of the Social Capitalist Awards, and helped establish the Boston chapter of Social Venture Partners. Andrew holds an M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship and Nonprofit Management from Boston University and a B.A. from Lehigh University.
